Akbati Mall Istanbul Review + Location, Shops & Hours

Since I arrived in Istanbul, I had repeatedly heard from different people about the luxury of Akbati Mall, making me feel that visiting it should be one of my travel priorities. After some research and inquiries, I discovered that this shopping center is located in the western part of Istanbul, in the Esenyurt and Koza districts.

Without exaggeration, Akbati Mall was one of the most impressive shopping centers I visited in Istanbul. Its unique architecture, beautiful gardens filled with bonsai plants, and the glass ceiling that lets in natural light all contributed to my decision to write a dedicated article about this mall.

Introduction to Akbati Mall Istanbul

Akbati Mall consists of five floors, including the ground floor, two basement levels, and two upper floors. The mall houses branches of the best international brands as well as many Turkish brands. It also includes one of the largest Migros 5M and Koçtaş stores, known as leading centers for groceries, clothing, home goods, tools, kitchen equipment, and garden supplies.

According to information from the official Akbati Mall website, the mall has over 200 stores and 9 cinema halls. Additionally, it features diverse restaurants, a children’s play area, and an underground parking lot with a capacity of around 3,000 cars, making the shopping experience even more enjoyable.

The first floor is filled with children’s clothing stores, and since I love kids, I decided to start my visit by exploring these stores.

My Shopping Experience at Akbati Mall Istanbul

To start shopping, I needed to fulfill a promise I had made to my girlfriend. She has a great fondness for light blue ankle boots, so I headed to a store that offers discounts, namely Bambi. This store featured a black design with white shelves, making the shopping experience more enjoyable.

With guidance from the salesperson, I discovered that only one model in the color I was looking for was available in the store, and it was being offered at a 45% discount. The original price of the boots was 1,189 TL, but I was able to purchase them for 713 TL.

For a long time, I had been thinking about buying a white hooded sweatshirt from Gant for Istanbul’s rainy days. So, I quickly made my way to the ground floor. There, I found a white hoodie from Gant, which I bought for 4,399 TL after a 20% discount. Although the Gant store was relatively small, I was pleased with the staff’s behavior and the prices, and I would recommend shopping there.

Overall, the shopping quality at this mall is excellent, with products of outstanding quality. Since reputable brands are present in this mall, you can shop here with confidence.

Restaurants at Akbati Mall

This shopping mall features 29 restaurants, cafes, and eateries on various floors. Below, I’ve compiled a list of some of the busiest and most popular ones. Additionally, I decided to treat myself to a meal at one of these restaurants and enjoy the dining experience in this location.

Since I wanted a complete meal with adequate protein, yet not too heavy or greasy, I chose Green Salads Restaurant. The prices on the menu seemed relatively reasonable. I selected the Economic Platter No. 1, which included a bowl of soup, grilled chicken with vegetables, and lots of cinnamon and a Coke, priced at 199 TL. Although it took a while for the food to be prepared, it was served warm and was relatively delicious.

Recreational Facilities at Akbati Mall

Akbati Mall offers plenty of entertainment options for children, including a retro playground, climbing wall, and zip line, suitable for both warm and cold seasons. Additionally, there is an attractive food court with open balconies on the rooftop, designed for visitors’ convenience.

The surrounding area of Akbati Mall is filled with entertaining restaurants and cafes, which helped me unwind after shopping and exploring. A Luna Park (amusement park) had also been opened on the festival grounds of the mall, but unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to visit it.

All Turkish mobile network operators have branches in this mall, and ATMs from most banks are also available.

How to Reach Akbati Mall?

Akbati Mall is located on the European side of Istanbul, far from the city center. It is situated right next to the E80 highway, making it easily accessible by taxi. However, there is no direct metro connection to the mall.

The nearest metro station is Ispartakule, which can be reached via the B2 suburban line. From there, you need to take a taxi to Akbati Mall, a journey that takes approximately 15 minutes by taxi.

Final Words

If you are staying near the Esenyurt area, I recommend visiting Akbati Mall. However, if your hotel is far from this shopping center, it might not be a practical choice, as it is located far from the city center of Istanbul. Traveling back and forth could waste your time.

Instead, I suggest visiting other shopping malls in Istanbul that are closer to your hotel. In my opinion, the two malls listed below are among the best in the city, and you may want to learn more about them as well:
