Burgazada is located west of Heybeliada and after Kinalada. It is the third largest Princess Island in Istanbul, and it is quieter than the other ones, and you can feel the peace there.
Burgazada Island faced a massive fire in 2003, and about 4 hectares of its vegetation and forests were wholly burned and destroyed. Later and in recent years, due to the burning of the forests, severe measures were taken, maybe now the Island of Burgazada is not the same as before, but it is still attractive.
In the past, most of the residents of Burgazada Istanbul were Greeks, but later many of them migrated to Istanbul. The population of Burgazada in the cold seasons is about a thousand people. But this number increases nearly ten times during the hot seasons when the Island’s climate is perfect for rest, recreation, and relaxation.

Burgazada beach

This island is surrounded by beaches. As you know, it is located in the Sea of Marmara. I recommend visiting this island during the warm season, going to Burgazada Beach, and swimming in the sea. I should also mention that the beaches on this island are not made of soft sand but rather consist of coarse and hard rocks, making it difficult to walk on them.
Most of the beaches on this island have concrete platforms; however, in some parts, there are sunbeds where you can lie down and enjoy sunbathing.
Restaurants and cafes of Burgazada

Burgazada Island has few restaurants and cafes, but these few restaurants are also very excellent and beautiful. The very famous restaurant of this island is called Kalpazankaya, where most tourists and travellers go there to eat the famous foods of Turkey.
The food served in this restaurant is prepared from fresh ingredients. Most of Kalpazankaya’s dishes are from the sea and taste great. Four Letter Word Coffee is also one of the best cafes on this island.
Island tour with the carriage

Touring the Island and seeing the natural scenery has always been enjoyable, but what makes it more enjoyable is touring with gorgeous old carriages.
Visiting the island doesn’t take more than half an hour, so if you go there for fun and sightseeing, you should experience the island tour with a carriage.
Sait Faik Museum

One of the exciting attractions of Burgazada is the Sait Faik Museum. Sait Faik Abasiyanik is one of the old writers of Turkey. He has spent part of his life in Burgazada. Burgazada and other islands of Istanbul are mentioned in his stories. This museum was also Abasiyanik’s house, which was converted into a museum after his death.
Bayrak Tepe

The view of the sunset in Kalpazankaya, located in the west of this island, is very famous, and it is recommended to see and enjoy this view. Bayrak Tepe, with a height of 186 meters, is located in the southern part of Burgazada, and one of the other famous attractions of this island, Hristos Manastiri, is situated on this hill.
Burgazada Sanatorium, built in 1928, is also one of the oldest sanatoriums in Turkey. This part of the island is the highest, and when you go there, you can see the whole island from above.

You can use public or private boats to access Burgazada. These boats depart from Bostancı, Eminönü, and Kadıköy piers, and their prices change depending on the dock, season, and whether the boat is private or public.
