  1. I have a friend whom I feel is being exploited for money. She is financial assisting a man who claims to be in Turkey illegally. He told her that he is in hiding and unable to leave because of the fines, police brutality, etc. My friend has wired thousands of $ for 3 years now. My friend also has never seen this man only a pic. I feel this is a money scam but need to know this: Does this man need money to be deported as he will never wish to enter Turkey again?

Do you know how to pay it? Because I lose yhe paper that the officer gave to me now and I need to re enter to turkey in before 3 months

  2. Hi, my dear friend
I am looking for the turkey overstay fine calculator tool so that I can calculate online the amount of the fine for the days I have overstayed in Turkey. Please guide me.

    1. Hello my friend
You don’t need Turkey overstay fine calculator because Turkey fine is very easy to calculate.
You have to pay $50 for staying an extra month, and if you stay longer every month, $10 will be added to $50.

      1. Hi,
        Thanks for the article.
Could I please know where this fine amount is coming from? I see conflicting info on the internet. Do you have a source? Maybe it changed because of inflation? I see crazy numbers going around.

        Thanks,

  3. Hello! I am traveling Turkey with my family now and we are flying back to our country next week. We have overstayed one month excluding 90days rule. Me, my wife and my two 1 year old babies. The reason, one of my baby had fever and got sick so we postponed. I am worried about the processing time, how much time would it take for us to issue our case at the airport (immigration office)? Because, my kids may not stand and wait for a long time as we are planning to go to the airport at least hours ago our departure time. 2nd question, at the time of our departure, banks will not be working as our ticket time 6 in the morning, besides in any case can we leave Turkey withou paying fine in Turkey but 1-3 days later in my country.

    1. The processing time for overstaying in Turkey will depend on the specific circumstances and the airport’s workload. However, as a family with young children, you may request expedited processing due to your babies’ condition. Typically, it may take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Arriving at least 3-4 hours before your departure is advisable to ensure you have enough time to handle the formalities.

In most cases, fines for overstaying can be paid at the airport before departure. However, if this is not feasible due to the timing of your flight and banking hours, you may be allowed to leave and settle the fine at your home country’s Turkish consulate or embassy within a few days. Confirm this option with the immigration office upon arrival at the airport.

  4. Hi,
I’m in Turkey now visiting my sister who is married and been living in Turkey for 14 years (she’s a Turkish citizen now)
I’m have a month free visa as Indonesian. My plan is to leave Turkey on March 6th, 2025. I tried to apply visa for 3 months with my sister and her husband as sponsorship and I will be living with them for the whole trip.
All the documents and payment is already made, but the Turkish lady at the immigration kept asking me to make a bank account in Turkey with amount 120.000 lira to support my trip. The problem is I cannot make bank account here because I don’t have Turkish ID card which is the only requirement every bank is asking for.
The end of the story is I think they do not approve my visa because of that matter as what the lady told me.
And my return ticket will be on March 6th.
Should I stay till March 6th and pay the fine?
Will I face a big problem at the airport when I return?
Where should I pay this fine when I’m at airport?
    What should I do?

    1. Hello
You do not need a Turkish national ID card to open a bank account in Turkey and you can open an account at various branches of Ziraat Bankası in Turkey with just your passport. However, if you do not want to open an account, you can pay the fine for overstaying in Turkey at the airport when you leave Turkey. You can also go to the Turkish embassy after returning to your country and pay the fine there.

      1. Dear Sina,
Thank you for your respond 😊
Ziraat Bankasi is the first bank I came twice at the different branch as it’s own by Turkish government, they asked for my Turkish national ID.
Also I went to another Turkish government bank named Halk Bank, still they are asking for the ID card.
Then I went to Vakif Bank, Garanti Bankasi, AK bank & IS bank, all of them are asking the same.
All the bank staff said it’s weird that someone from immigration asking me to open the bank account when they know that I have no Turkish national ID.
Could you please let me know which branch of Ziraat Bankasi that can accept someone to open the bank account only by using a passport. I’m staying in Izmir right now.
Due many different information regarding amount of the fine, could you please let me know the estimate amount for overstaying for 2 months.

        Warm regards,
        Ros

You can travel to Istanbul to open the account.

  8. Overstay Fines and Regulations in Turkey
    Dear members,
We are a family with two children under 18 and are planning to overstay our visa in Antalya before leaving Turkey. I recently heard that the authorities can arbitrarily decide to increase the fine without prior notice, and that one cannot leave the country without paying it.
Has anyone heard of such cases, especially in recent times? Under what circumstances could this happen? Previously, the regulations seemed more lenient, but I’ve been told that fines have become significantly higher. Can anyone confirm this?
Are the fines strictly regulated, or is there a risk that the penalties could be unexpectedly severe? How much should we expect to pay if we overstay for two to three months as a family?
Any insights or recent experiences would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

  9. His how are you

My spouse has overstayed for 1 year and is African. I want her to go back and get a new visa. I will pay for her overstaying and I know they will give her a ban. I want to know how I can help her to get the new visa cause I want her to come back so we can get married. What should I do or how can I help her to come back since she will be having a ban

  10. Hello Sir, I am in a heck of a situation, my mom had a complication from an injection here to the knee, ended up with a surgery to clean it out, now she’s doing rehabilitation which is a huge reason that she must stay here until she gets better (1 to 2 months), her ikamet was denied and the overstaying starts this 7th, i’ve been seeing lots of sources, some say the overstaying fine is 1000tl per day some say its 100 per day, you say its 50 usd per month, hence, i am reaching out to you to have a closure and confirm the official price for once and for all.

    1. As for the overstay fine: it’s not 1000 TL per day. The typical fee is around 50 USD per month of overstay, based on official practice. If you pay the fine when leaving Turkey, you usually avoid a re-entry ban — especially for short overstays.

Still, since rules can vary by case and nationality, it’s best to confirm with the local Göç İdaresi (Immigration Office) or your consulate.

      Hope things get easier soon.
      Take care!
